Polytunnels for calf housing have been used by farmers over many years to improve animal welfare and help increase profitability.
A stable protective environment reduces stress on the animals and increases food conversion to weight gain for optimum growth. Calf survival rate can be increased through reduced mortality from exposure.
Herd management becomes easier with increased comfort for both calf and herdsman.
Our calf houses have 1.5m straight sides, which allows us to have 1m of corrugated steel to shelter calves from a breeze, and allows 0.5m of high strength windbreak material above this which gives good ventilation above calf height.
The roof vents in the middle of the polytunnel allow warm air to escape through the roof which gives a fresh airy atmosphere whilst the canopy over the top of this and gutters on both sides keeps the bedding dry.
These calf rearing polytunnels are highly popular as the white roof still allows through natural light including UV. This helps to keep good air quality inside and will help disinfect the building between batches of calves. It also reduces costs of artificial lighting.

AG Polytunnels is a family run business that has been designing and manufacturing agricultural and horticultural buildings for many years from their UK site in the Forest of Dean. We supply UK manufactured polytunnels to farms, domestic growers, large garden centres and commercial users throughout the World.
We use a local galvanising company or plating company to give a rust resistant finish to the various fixings.
